I spent four years as an honors student at the University of Memphis with a 3.2 GPA, studying various fields.
Experience
My ACT score at the end of high school was a 30, and a very recent GMAT test gave me a score of 700. It is worth noting that my verbal scores (34 on ACT, 98 percentile on GMAT) are far above my math scores, and that I would thus emphasize my ability to teach all forms of English more so than I would my ability to teach math. In addition, I spent my last year at high school as a dedicated member of Madison High school's Academic Decathlon team, where I had the highest individual score in my division at both the local and state level, and where I continued to pick up several awards at the national level as well. Tutoring seems very appealing to me for several reasons. I want to see people realize their true potential, both on the individual as well as on the societal level. By this, I mean that I feel as though one of the best ways I can contribute to the world is to help ensure that everybody has a fair chance to learn about and engage with it through the higher education that they seek. And of course, more material concerns motivate me as well, as I wish to be financially independent, as most people do, and thus am willing to commit the time and work needed to ensure that my abilities and confidence as a tutor increase with experience. For any potential clients, this means that I am committed to you, because, as a tutor, your success and my own are completely inseparable.
